Too Far in Humor?

I despise political correctness and think it harms our society. However, occasionally I see things and wonder, has this gone too far? Perhaps this is just crass.

This is really just an unbelievable picture. Roseanne Barr is a Jew being photographed in a Jewish magazine. The "cookies" represent Jews per Heeb Magazine.

Health Care Again

I am sure this will take a while so there will probably be many of these posts called Health Care.

Today the House committee made progress which apparently helped the Blue Dog Dems get on board and irked the liberal sect. So, I like it. Again, being new to this perspective of supporting the inept government getting involved, if the liberals don't like it, it probably hasn't gone too far toward socialized medicine.

So far, it seems like they are trying to create an alternative to the private insurance companies which will compete and hopefully hold down prices. So theoretically, even if you stay with your private insurance, and you should, the prices will probably stay lower in order to compete.

Stay tuned as this could, and should, take a while to get all the way through all the processes.

Michael Jackson - Drug Induced Sleep

This just in:

"Speaking on condition of anonymity because of the ongoing investigation, the source said Jackson used the anesthetic Propofol regularly to help him sleep. The King of Pop relied on the drug like an alarm clock, the source said. A doctor would administer it when Jackson went to sleep, then stop the IV drip when the singer wanted to wake up."

Wow! If you have ever been knocked out for surgery, you would know how this would feel. No wonder the guy was shuffling like an old man when you would see him or why his judgement seemed so bad.

The news report continued, "Shortly after midnight on June 25, the day Jackson died, Dr. Conrad Murray gave him the drug through an IV, the source said." Seems like the good Doctor is in deep s___!

I suppose if the King of Pop wants to be anesthetized there will be somebody who will give it to him for a price. As always, where are the ethics?

The Cop, Prof. Gates, and Obama

Much ado about nothing. President Obama has invited Prof. Gates and Sgt. James Crowley to have a beer at the White House and apparently they have agreed. This seems like a much more appropriate response than the media firestorm that erupted. The poor woman that called in the "break-in" has been vilified as a racist when in fact she didn't even say anything about black men breaking into a house. The 911 tape verifies she never said that. Hype gone amok.

Enjoy the beer fellas!

Now we can get on with things that matter, rather than an over-hyped misunderstanding.

Health Care

Barack Obama was elected after specifically discussing the need to solve the health care problem in this country. He is pushing to get that done. Having recently been a victim myself of the insurance companies, I can't agree more that something has to get done.

What I find interesting is that it seems to me that the House and Senate are actually doing their jobs on this one. Yes it is contentious, but we are actually seeing them trying to figure out how to do it. You have liberal Democrats, Blue-Dog Democrats, Republicans that understand some type of reform is needed, and Republicans who hate anything that helps someone other than their rich friends. They have no qualms with giving really rich companies money for moving jobs overseas, but God forbid we create some sort of stop gap so that we don't have dying people laying on the side of the roads in America. Don't think it can happen? Look at New Orleans post-Katrina.

(If you are a Republican and you discount Katrina and New Orleans and try to rationalize what happened, then the party will continue to put up people that cannot win the presidency. As usual, I digress.)

At any rate, this is complicated. Clearly the goal should be to have a national plan of some sort that will compete with private insurance. If you are happy with your employer sponsored plan, count your blessings. I have had that, and it is very reassuring, even as the costs have exploded and the service has declined. But I can personally attest to how nice that is compared with being uninsured or paying a ridiculous amount for a crappy policy.

So, the media and twitter users and the politicians can all gripe and complain about the process, but it seems to me they are working and will come up with something. Obama is clearly ready to use up every bit of his clout on this issue. Good for him.

Cannot Stay Away

I am like Brett Favre and Michael Jordan (only without the millions of dollars) - I just cannot stay retired.........from this blog.

A month ago the fodder seemed to be waning - now the fodder is just too good to be true! So, I am back and I did reserve the right to do so in my last post.

Going to have to catch up:

Sarah Palin - Nice looking lady, guns and all. She wanted to spare the Alaskans from the embarrassment and expense of defending her against ethics charges and the terrible media. I remember hearing that Tricky Dick Nixon once said something like "you won't have Richard Nixon to kick around anymore." Next think you knew he was President of the U.S. I wonder how it will work out for Sarah - I never saw a Caribou I didn't want to shoot - Palin?

And this just in - the debate is on about nationalized health insurance. There certainly is no shortage of data bandied about by important sounding groups on both sides. Who is the GOP relying on you ask? The Lewin Group, a consulting firm whose work has been constantly cited by opponents of a public option. The Lewin Group is wholly owned by UnitedHealth Group, one of the nation's largest insurers. As Gomer used to say....."Surprise, Surprise, Surprise!"

Barack Obama, the master of the well thought out answers to questions, stepped in it with this trooper who arrested Professor Gates. Amazingly, after admitting he didn't have all the facts, he said the police were stupid to arrest the professor. Bush saying something like this would be easy to believe, but the wordsmith seems to have reacted from the gut. That is a no-no Mr. President.

Republican politicians - the "family values" guys - cannot seem to remain faithful to their spouses. Where are the ethics of these well positioned politicians? Gov. Mark Sanford from S.C. was touted as a possible candidate for President in 2012. Instead he was in Argentina with a woman he has carried on a relationship for many years and ruining his career. Before that it was
Sen. John Ensign— a Republican, #3 in the party, and resident of a Capitol Hill Christian fellowship house — admitted publicly that he’d had an affair with a former staffer.

Democratic politicians - In New Jersey today, a large bust of dishonest people who were selling fake Gucci bags and human organs (interesting combo) went down. Among the 44 people arrested were the mayors of Hoboken, Ridgefield and Secaucus, Jersey City's deputy mayor, and two state assemblymen. A member of the governor's cabinet resigned after agents searched his home, though he was not arrested. All but one of the officeholders are Democrats.

This is rich, isn't it?

The Republican White House and mostly Republican led congress over the last 8 years took that whole 8 years to completely screw up the world's economy and now they are demanding to know why it is taking so long for the bailout to turn this around. Are they kidding?

Get to work!

Nancy Pelosi - still, never has so little been done with so much, and she needs to get to work!

In AZ, the Republican legislature, faced with a $3 billion dollar deficit and the impending shut down of state services decided to debate a stiffening of abortion laws and to allow armed people to go to bars to drink alcohol. I am not kidding - I cannot make up this good stuff.

Oh well, feels good to vent - Totally Reasonable!
